A house with roots and character

History of the Andlwirt

The Andlwirt looks back on a history of around one hundred years – shaped by continuity, development, and genuine hospitality. Over generations, the inn has been carried on with great dedication and carefully adapted to the demands of the times, without losing its original charm.

Today, the house combines tradition and modernity in a special way and radiates that familiar coziness and tranquility that make the Andlwirt a place of arrival and well-being. A house that has remained what it always was – and yet has continued to grow a little further.

Between Tradition and History

The origin of the name “Andlwirt” has not been clearly established to this day and is accompanied by several stories. According to one tradition, the name derives from “Andrä-Wirt” – named after St. Andrä, as also mentioned in the local chronicle by Father Schitter.

Another possible origin is found in old discoveries: During renovation work, a historic muzzle-loading pistol was found, with the name “Franz Andlinger” engraved on the side – a clue that is also associated with the development of the name.

Thus, the Andlwirt remains not only a house with history, but also one with little mysteries that are still passed on to this day.
